According to the Center for Disease Control, about 29 percent of American adults have untreated cavities. While some of these cases are undiagnosed or ignored, many are the result of patients who simply cannot afford dental work.

Marjie Yuzva dealt with her painful tooth decay for over five years. Unable to pay for her dental care, she ignored the discomfort and risked further dental problems, though she knew the problem wouldn't disappear.

In 2007, Marjie attended a local Dentistry From The Heart event. She received a free extraction, and her mouth has never been the same. The operation ended her longtime suffering almost immediately. Now Marjie says she'll be back next year with a friend, simply because "these people are awesome."
